Justin Waters, MA, LMHC
My approach to therapy is client centered, strength based, systemic, collaborative, and creative. I believe people are innately good and are driven to become more authentic, as well as to feel a sense of wholeness. As an Art Therapist my approach is to utilize the creative process to help in enhancing or restoring your sense of wellness. I aim to assist you in understanding yourself, and the world around you, as well as facilitate a space to understand how your experiences have helped to make you who are. I believe art is for everyone and can be a powerful tool to gain access to information about ourselves that words may not. I also acknowledge not everyone is comfortable engaging in art, and provide an interdisciplinary approach throughout the therapeutic process. This approach includes existential, attachment-based, cognitive behavioral, family systems, and mindfulness-based therapies.
I have primarily assisted adults with severe and persistent mental illness, utilizing both individual and group therapy to help address a wide range of clinical concerns. My experience, training, and education have prepared me to counsel individuals of all ages, ethnicities, races, religious, and sexual orientations.
