Catherine Larkin MA, LMHC


I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (#00010994) with 15 years of experience counseling adolescents, individuals, couples, families and groups. My approach is client-centered, solution-oriented and evidence-based. Together, we will work to discover your strengths and build upon them to address your concerns.

I have a special interest in neuroscience and attachment theory in the context of helping individuals cope and heal from stress and trauma. This interest corresponds to my experience in positive discipline parenting and educational consulting for children and teens. I am also passionate about assisting people in developing healthy, authentic relationships, and in carving out their unique life course.

Experience and Education

Master’s degree in counseling from the Leadership Institute of Seattle with an emphasis in family systems counseling.
Extensive experience counseling adolescents, couples, families and individuals in a multitude of settings including Seattle Children's Hospital, Group Health, and Valley City Counseling; and in schools, including Garfield High School.
I am a certified Roots of Empathy instructor, and a Program for Early Parent Support (PEPS) trainer.
Recently I completed a year-long leadership certification program, Generating Transformative Change, through Saybrook University/Pacific Integral.
I am currently participating in an 18-month post-graduate certification program, Somatic Transformation, that explores and treats the physiological and psychological effects of complex traumatic experiences.
I am a member of the American Counseling Association.
I am a parent to three adolescents. They keep me on my toes.
